“U-Dispuut is a student association. It is formed by very active and resourceful group of students with interests in the structural design of buildings and all related aspects that are of importance for structural engineers with ambitions in this field. U-Dispuut has positioned itself and its activities close to the Department of Structural and Building Engineering and there in particular close to the Master Variant “Buildings”. U-Dispuut has developed with this Department an intensive and fruitful relation and cooperation, highly appreciated not only within the Faculty, but also outside. U-Dispuut provides students with extracurricular student activities and brings them into contact with the industry which they may work for after they graduate. U-Dispuut organises excursions to companies, field projects and lectures. One recurrent activity is the organisation of an international study tour. The goal of this tour is to provide students with a unique exposure to the industry and the culture in a particular country. During those trips, the students get in close contact with many aspects of the profession. It is my expectation, that more will be heard about U-Dispuut and its activities in the future.”
Prof. ir. R. Nijsse
Prof. ir. Rob Nijsse is sinds zijn afstuderen in 1979 aan de TU Delft Civiele Techniek werkzaam bij het ingenieursbureau ABT; begonnen als constructeur is hij nu managing partner en mede verantwoordelijk voor het technische kwaliteitsniveau van ABT. Vanuit deze laatste invalshoek is hij sinds 2007 betrokken als hoogleraar Draagconstructies bij de TU Delft Bouwkunde en sinds 2010 als ad interim hoogleraar in dezelfde positie bij Civiele Techniek. Het werken met studenten, vooral de afstudeerders, bied de kans alllerlei technische zaken samen met de studenten nader te onderzoeken en zodoende het kennisniveau in Nederland op een hoger niveau te brengen. Gezien de ontwikkelingen in de bouw in het Verre en het Midden Oosten een bittere noodzaak om bij te blijven. De studenten die zich aansluiten bij het U-Dispuut zijn allen Master Studenten Civiele Techniek, vandaar dat uit deze groep mensen de aannemers, de constructeurs, de projectontwikkelaars en de andere technische adviseurs van de Toekomst zullen komen.
